Spun To Run rockets to victory in G1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile

Son of Hard Spun goes wire-to-wire to earn his first G1 win

Spun To Run took command right out of the starting gate and never looked back on his way to rolling to a three-length victory in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile at Santa Anita Nov. 2.

It marked the first G1 win for the three-year-old son of Hard Spun. He also captured the G3 Smarty Jones Stakes earlier this year. The talented colt now has won five of 11 career starts and has been in-the-money nine times.

Bred in Kentucky by Sabana Farm, Spun To Run is out of Yawkey Way, a Stakes-winning daughter of Grand Slam. In addition to the Smarty Jones winner, Yawkey Way has produced Tap It All, winner of the California Oaks.

Hard Spun has sired 75 career Stakes winners, including 12 Grade 1 winners. His other top performers in 2019 include three-year-olds Out For A Spin, winner of the G1 Ashland Stakes, A Thread Of Blue, winner of the $1M Saratoga Derby and Hard Legacy, winner of the G3 Regret Stakes.

Hard Spun will stand the 2020 breeding season at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for a fee of $40,000, stands and nurses.
