Special Dividend breaks maiden in style in gate-to-wire romp

Swift juvenile filly becomes Girolamo’s 16th first-crop winner

Special Dividend took the lead at the start and never looked back as she rolled to a five-length victory in a six-furlong maiden special weight at Penn National Nov. 6.

The two-year-old filly became the 16th winner for freshman sire Girolamo.

Sent off as the favorite in the field of six, Special Dividend broke alertly and quickly took the lead right out of the gate.

The chestnut filly began to increase her lead on the far turn, and eventually won going away by five lengths.

Special Dividend was bred in New York by Gallagher’s Stud, and is out of the unraced Rahy mare, Wallstreetmadness. Wallstreetmadness is a half-sister to G2 winner Yearly Report, the dam of Condo Commando, winner of the G1 Spinaway Stakes.

Currently fourth on the first-crop sire list by earnings, Girolamo's other winners include Stakes winner and G1-placed TDN Rising Star She’s All Ready, Belmont debut winner and Stakes-placed Lucky Lurie, Saratoga debut winner and Stakes-placed Pagan, and six length Belmont maiden winner Libreta.
