Skytrain sizzles in Classic

Lonhro gelding leads home a Darley stallion one-two in the Listed Canterbury Classic in Australia

After a last start third in the Listed Carrington Stakes, Lonhro gelding Skytrain showed that as a seven-year-old he is more than capable of matching it with the younger brigade, settling off the speed and producing a sustained burst of speed to take the Listed Canterbury Classic by the best part of a length.

Bred by Woodlands Stud, Pinwheel is out of the Luskin Star mare Que Sera Sera, the dam of four Stakes winners to date including G2 winner Manana, dual Listed winner Accept and Listed winner Omens. From the family of Commands’ G1 winner Erewhon, Pinwheel is one of 36 Stakes winners for his Champion sire.

Lonhro, Australian Champion as well as Champion sire in Australia, started 35 times, winning 26, including 11 G1 events. Australian's Champion sire during the 2011-2012 season, of Lonhro's 36 Stakes winners, Denman, Pierro, Beaded, Benfica and Mental are all winners at G1 level.

He will stand the 2013 season for $30,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
