Shopton Lane lands Skip Away Stakes

Quiet American colt leads all the way to take his second Stakes of the year

Shopton Lane, a four-year-old son of Darley stallion Quiet American, recorded his second Stakes win of the year in fine style on Saturday with a front-running victory in the $70,000 Skip Away Stakes at Monmouth Park.

Taking command straight from the gate, the Bruce Levine-trained colt was never headed throughout the one-mile-and-one-sixteenth contest and stayed clear of his rivals to win by two-and-a-half lengths from Judiths Wild Rush.

Quiet American has sired ten Stakes performers in 2008 and stands at Darley America in Kentucky.
