Second Stakes victory for daughter of Astern

Seradess storms home at Moonee Valley to take out the G3 Scarborough Stakes

Seradess maintained the momentum of her sire Astern showed an outstanding turn-of-foot to score a bold win in the G3 Scarborough Stakes in Australia on Friday, 24 September.

Jockey Luke Currie sat on the pace with Seradess, calling on her at the 300m from which point she powered home, just defeating Larkspur Run (Shamardal) by a nose.

Astern, one of the best two and three-year-olds of his era, retired to stud in 2017 as the highest-rated son of Medaglia d’Oro. He was one of four first-season stallions to sire multiple Stakes winners in his first season.

In North American, Astern is represented by the recent Kentucky Downs winner Grael along with Mainstay (G3-placed), Sail By (Stakes-placed), The Arcadian Way and Brandon’smylawyer. Another daughter, C J’s Cat Five, was recently third in the Jamestown Stakes at Colonial Downs.
