Sea Foam sails home in Saratoga's Albany Stakes

Medaglia d'Oro colt wins second consecutive Stakes

Medaglia d’Oro’s Sea Foam is usually near or on the lead but in his last two starts he’s taken control quickly out of the gate and never looked back. On August 24th at Saratoga, he won his second consecutive Black type event in the Albany Stakes, making every call a winning one while registering his third career added-money win.

An earlier winner of the 2017 Notebook Stakes at Aqueduct, most recently he found the winners circle in the New York Derby on July 21st at Finger Lakes.

Sea Foam was bred in New York and is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare, Strike It Rich, winner of the G3 Boiling Springs Stakes. Strike It Rich is out of Belle Of Perintown, winner of the G2 Silverbulletday Stakes and Listed Pocahontas Stakes, and she is a half-sister to Stakes-placed Sumptuous, dam of Great Stuff, winner of the 2018 G3 Toboggan Stakes.

In addition to Sea Foam, Medaglia d’Oro is also the sire of 2018 Stakes winners Gyllen (G2 Prix Eugene Adam), Elate (G2 Delaware Handicap), Bolt d’Oro (G2 San Felipe) and Enticed (G3 Gotham). The stallion is also the sire of Champion filly Wonder Gadot, recent winner of the prestigious $1,000,000 Queen’s Plate.

Medaglia d’Oro is also having a stellar year in the auction ring. He sired three of the top five yearlings at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga and has been represented by more million dollar horses at that sale in the last decade than any other sire. He is also the sire of three of the six million dollar two-year-olds sold in 2018.
