Rydilluc runs away in the Penn Mile Stakes

Medaglia d’Oro’s son scores second Stakes win this season

After a fantastic win in the G3 Palm Beach Stakes at Gulfstream Park in March, Rydilluc was the heavy favorite in the G1 Toyota Bluegrass Stakes at Keeneland where he ran well to finish fourth.  Favorite again on June 1, he didn’t let his supporters down and held on well to win by three-quarters-of-a-length.

The son of Medaglia d'Oro stalked just behind the leader in the one-mile race on the turf and then raced two wide into the second turn.  With some encouragement from jockey Edgar Prado down the home-stretch, the colt drew off for the win.

Bred by Hill 'n' Dale Equine Holdings, Inc. & Gaines-Gentry Thoroughbreds, LLC, Rydilluc is out of the Stakes-winning mare Swift And Classy. He is a half-brother to multiple Stakes winner Gold Wonder, as well as two other Stakes performers. The colt's second dam is G1-placed Sociable Duck.

Medaglia d’Oro is a sire of many talents, with the ability to sire runners on all surfaces.  His progeny include 9 G1 winners such as Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, and CashCall Futurity winner Violence. He has sired a total of 22 Graded/Group winners to date.

Medaglia d’Oro stands at Darley America for $100,000 stands and nurses.
