Royal Haunt cruises home

First Southern Hemisphere Stakes winner for Hard Spun

Hard Spun gelding Royal Haunt made it three starts for three wins, demolishing his rivals by four-and-a-quarter lengths in the Listed Manfred Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield on 2 February.

After wins at Echuca and Sale at his first two starts, Royal Haunt made the progression to Stakes class with ease, leading all the way to become his sire Hard Spun’s first Southern Hemisphere Stakes winner and his 17th Stakes winner world wide.

A home-bred for David and Jenny Moodie’s Contract Racing Pty Ltd, Royal Haunt is the second foal of King's Best mare Royal Glow, a half-sister to Group 3 winners Red Colossus and Nediym’s Glow. Royal Glow has a yearling half-sister to Royal Haunt by New Approach and foaled a colt by Exceed And Excel last Spring.

The sire of recently crowned Eclipse Champion Three-Year-Old Filly Questing and fellow G1 winner Zo Impressive, Hard Spun is standing the 2013 season for $60,000 stands and nurses.
