Romansh rolls to victory in G3 Discovery Handicap

Bernardini colt wins by nine lengths

Romansh, a three-year-old son of Bernardini, rolled to an impressive victory November 2 in the Discovery Handicap at Aqueduct and is now the 16th Graded Stakes winner for his sire. Micromanage, a Stakes-winning son of Medaglia d'Oro, finished third.

Stalking the pace in third in the one-and-one-eighth-mile race, Romansh made his move with a half-mile to go. Taking the lead, he cleared away in the stretch where no one could stop him, and proved a convincing winner by nine lengths.

Bred in Kentucky by Darley & Lynn B Schiff, Romansh was a $750,000 Saratoga yearling. He is out of the multiple Stakes winner and Graded-placed Cologny, herself a half-sister to Stakes winners Selective and Keep It S. S., as well as the dam of Graded Stakes winner Twice The Appeal.

Bernardini is off to a tremendous start at stud, as the sire of seven G1 winners and 12 G1 horses. Among them are multiple G1 winners Alpha, To Honor And Serve, and Stay Thirsty.
