Right Hand Man cruises home to win Golden Nugget Stakes

Street Boss colt overcomes awkward start to win by three lengths

Right Hand Man overcame an awkward start to notch his second Stakes victory when he took the Golden Nugget Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.

Settled into third during the first half-mile, the two-year-old son of Street Boss began to close in on the leaders going into the far turn. At the top of the stretch, Right Hand Man passed longtime leader Riser and began to pull away, eventually crossing the wire to win by three lengths.

Bred in Kentucky by Gordon Bithell, Right Hand Man is out of Storm Queen, a winning daughter of Stormy Atlantic. Right Hand Man’s second dam is Dixieland Gold, winner of the G2 Beaumont Stakes and Listed La Troienne Stakes.

Right Hand Man is one of 26 Stakes winners for his sire Street Boss. The twelve-year-old stallion is the sire of the 2016 G1 Kentucky Oaks winner, Cathryn Sophia. In addition, Street Boss has sired G1 winners Capo Bastone, Danza, and The Quarterback. In the U.S., no sire standing for under $20,000 had more black-type winners in all of 2015.
