Regal Glory charges to victory in G3 Lake George

Daughter of Animal Kingdom overpowers rivals to earn first Graded Stakes win

Regal Glory overhauled stablemates Blowout and Dogtag in the stretch to win the G3 Lake George Stakes at Saratoga by a half-length 19 July.

It was the first Graded Stakes victory for the daughter of Animal Kingdom, who had previously captured the Listed Penn Oaks. Regal Glory improved her record to four wins and two seconds in six career starts for owner-breeder Paul P. Pompa Jr.

Breaking alertly from the starting gate, Regal Glory was settled into third by jockey Luis Saez, who was content to let Blowout and Dogtag lead the way through the early stages of the race. The compact field continued to hold their placings until the top of the stretch, when Saez moved Regal Glory to the outside and into the clear. The chestnut filly overtook Blowout in the stretch and prevailed under strong urging to win by a half-length.

Bred in Kentucky by her owner, Regal Glory is out of the More Than Ready mare, Mary’s Follies, winner of the G2 Mrs. Revere Stakes and G3 Boiling Springs. Regal Glory is a half-sister to Night Prowler, winner of the G3 Transylvania Stakes and G3 Dania Beach Stakes.

Animal Kingdom is the sire of ten Black Type winners including G1 Australian Derby winner Angel of Truth, G2 winner Untamed Domain, and G3 winner Elsa.
