Princess Arabella royal on debut

Any Given Saturday filly scores at Santa Anita

Any Given Saturday's two-year-old daughter Princess Arabella was nothing short of royal in a debut victory at Santa Anita. The Bob Baffert-trained filly was smashing in a six furlong Maiden Special Weight, scoring by a more than three lengths. Settling a few lengths off the pace, Princess Arabella was patient before swinging wide at the quarter pole to take command and sweep past rivals in the stretch. The filly is owned by Peachtree Stables, the connections of Medaglia d'Oro's G1 Kentucky Oaks winning daughter Plum Pretty.

Princess Arabella is a half-sister to Stakes winner and Graded-placed Dyna's Lassie. She is out of the Thunder Gulch mare Tortuga Lady, a half-sister to G1 Kentucky Derby-placed Invisible Ink.

Any Given Saturday certainly rounded 2011 out with a bang with this impressive two-year-old winner who was dubbed a 'TDN Rising Star'. He is the sire of Stakes-placed filly Sunday's Child as well, with a total of nine winners to date. The sire was a winner of the G1 Haskell Invitational over Horse of the Year Curlin, and is by the fantastic Distorted Humor. Any Given Saturday will stand for a fee of $15,000 in 2012.
