Pleasuring brings up Tasmanian Stakes double

Daughter of Hard Spun shows class in Oaks success

A substantial edge in class and a perfect ride helped Pleasuring to an impressive victory in the Listed Tasmanian Oaks at Launceston, Tasmania on Sunday, February 25.

Pleasuring added the Oaks to her victory two weeks earlier in the Listed Strutt Stakes in Hobart, at the same time maintaining the good record of her sire Hard Spun in Australia.

Pleasuring is one of three horses by Hard Spun in the same period to have won a stakes race, along with Promising Run who has picked up two G2s in Dubai and Hit It Once More, a Listed winner in America.

The filly took up an ideal position and travelled kindly throughout for jockey Damien Lane who produced her with 250m to run and allowed her to run to the line without applying full pressure to win by a length-and-a-half from Gone Girl.

Pleasuring is a member of a strong winning family.  Her dam, Sleeplessinseattle, has had seven foals to race, all of whom have won.  Her second dam, Seattle Rhyme, produced 10 foals to race, eight of them winners, and third dam, Elizabeth Drake, got 12 to the track for 10 winners, including the Australian G1 performer Northern Drake.

Hard Spun will stand the 2018 season at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for $40,000.
