Ondine on point in Beverly J. Lewis Stakes

Medaglia d'Oro filly is sire's 46th Stakes winner

Sent off as the even money favorite in the Beverly J. Lewis Stakes, Medaglia d'Oro's three-year-old daughter Ondine easily rolled to her first Stakes victory September 6 at Fairplex.

Settling off the pace in good position in the six-and-one-half-furlong race, the filly came after leaders at the top of the lane and drove home in the stretch for an easy score for owner Peachtree Stable and trainer Bob Baffert.

An exciting young filly, Ondine has also placed in the G2 Hollywood Oaks as a three-year-old. Bred by Gilbert G. Campbell, she is out of the Forest Wildcat mare Arrow In Flight, who is a full-sister to Stakes winner Forest Uproar and G2-placed Quiet Jungle. The filly hails from the family of Canadian Champions Catch The Ring and Catch The Thrill.

Ondine marks the 46th Stakes winner for her talented sire Medaglia d'Oro, who is best known for his Horse Of The Year daughter Rachel Alexandra and G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty. The sire has had a fantastic year in 2013, as his daughter Marketing Mix earned her second career G1 victory on the turf in the G1 Gamely Stakes at Hollywood Park. He has also been represented by multiple Graded Stakes winner Dark Cove, and has sired six Graded Stakes winners this year alone.
