November madness at Churchill Downs

Bracket Buster becomes 13th winner for freshman sire Henny Hughes

Thirteen proved to be a lucky number for Henny Hughes at Churchill Downs on November 17th as his son Bracket Buster came from off the pace to give his sire a "baker's dozen" of winners from his first crop of two-year-olds racing this year. The colt passed the front runners in deep stretch to win the one-mile event by a widening two and one-half lengths.

Bracket Buster is out of Code of Love, a winning daughter of Cryptoclearance and a half-sister to G2 winner Lemhi Gold.  She is also the dam of seven other foals to race, all winners, including Listed winner Casino Evil and stakes-placed Courier. Bracket Buster was bred by Dr. Chuck Kidder, Michael Levy and Jim and Jason Mamakos in Kentucky.

Henny Hughes is represented by 12 other winners from his first crop, including the TDN Rising Star, Fort Hughes, as well as stakes-placed Wealthy Aviator. His $700,000 Fasig-Tipton Calder sale topper was also the highest price paid for any two-year-old in 2010 at public auction.
