Miss d'Oro dazzling in Wonders Delight Stakes

Medaglia d'Oro filly wins by five lengths

It was only her third lifetime start, but Medaglia d'Oro filly Miss d'Oro didn't waste any time becoming the sire's 31st Stakes winner in the Wonder Where Stakes June 1.

Miss d'Oro first displayed her talent when she broke her maiden by a remarkable five and one-half lengths at Penn National at the end of March. She followed that by placing in Belmont's Inside Information Stakes.

Sent off as the heavy favorite in the six furlong race at Penn National, Miss d'Oro settled just off the pace in third. Coming around the turn she traveled three-wide and drew away in the stretch to a strong five length victory.

The three-year-old Miss d'Oro was bred by Chain Bridge Stable and is out of the Saint Ballado mare Princess Legacy, who is a half-sister to Stakes winner Rock.

A leading sire in the US, Medaglia d'Oro has certainly sired some fantastic runners. His most notorious is legendary Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra. This year Plum Pretty was a winner of the G1 Apple Blossom Handicap, having won the G1 Kentucky Oaks in 2011. Both fillies are among seven G1 winners to date for Medaglia d'Oro. The leading commercial sire of the day, Medaglia d'Oro is also the number one dirt sire in the world.

Medaglia d'Oro stands at Darley USA for $100,000.
