Meidung shines in Twilight Glow

19th Stakes winner for Bernardini

Darley homebred Meidung rushed home from last at the home turn to win the Listed Twilight Glow Stakes over 1400m at Sandown Park and become the 19th Stakes winner for Bernardini.

Meidung was allowed to settle at the rear until the home turn and then came with a big finish to reach the lead inside the final 100m and come clear.  “She still has a bit to learn but when she does she is going to make a very good filly.” said winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy.

Meidung is out of Amish, a half-sister to Pinwheel, by Lonhro, twice a winner of the G2 Warwick Stakes. Amish has a 2010 filly by Street Cry, a 2011 colt by Denman and was covered by New Approach in 2012.

Bernardini is the sire of five G1 winners headed by To Honor And Serve, Alpha and Stay Thirsty.
