Medaglia d’Oro’s Sea Foam salty in Alex M. Robb Stakes at Aqueduct

Six-year-old gets fifth career added-money win on New Year's Eve

With career earnings now approaching $800,000, Sea Foam, by Medaglia d'Oro, ran to the money as the odds-on favorite in Aqueduct's Alex M. Robb Stakes for his second Stakes win of the year and the fifth overall of his career.

Never one to shy away from the lead - six of Sea Foam's eight previous career victories were gate to wire - he once again grabbed the lead shortly after the start, maintained that position throughout, and held on gamely for the win.

Bred in New York by Waterville Lake Stable, Sea Foam is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare, Strike It Rich, winner of the G3 Boiling Springs Stakes. Strike It Rich is out of Belle Of Perintown, winner of the G2 Silverbulletday Stakes and Listed Pocahontas Stakes, and she is a half-sister to Stakes-placed Sumptuous.

Sea Foam is one of 20 Stakes winners for his sire in 2021. Topping the list is the outstanding Golden Sixty, the two-time Horse of the Year in Hong Kong and recent winner of the G1 Longines Hong Kong Mile for the second straight year. Other Graded Stakes winners this year include Dream Lith (G2 Golden Rod), Rockefeller (G3 Nashua), Navratilova (G3 Valley View), Vigilantes Way (G3 Eatontown), and G2 Shannon Stakes hero Yonkers (in Australia), to name just a few.

Medaglia d'Oro will stand the 2022 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $100,000, stands and nurses.
