Medaglia d'Oro's Mina Salaam wins again in South Africa

Four-year-old is one of 29 stakes winners for her sire

Medaglia d'Oro's Mina Salaam notched another win to add to her resume on April 24th in the Queen of the Sand Stakes at Vaal Racecourse in South Africa. The four-year-old filly’s racetrack successes also show wins in the first two legs of the Zimbabwean Triple Crown as a three-year-old.

In the Queen of the Sand, Mina Salaam tracked the leaders throughout most of the race and then gained an advantage in the stretch that she never relinquished.

Bred by Northfield’s Stud in South Africa, Mina Salaam is out of the champion South African mare Circle of Life, she a half-sister to G1 winners African Lion and Zebra Crossing.

Medaglia d’Oro, who stands this season at Darley America for $100,000, has now sired 29 career stakes winners, an ever-expanding list that also includes G1 winners Horse-Of-The-Year Rachel Alexandra, Gabby’s Golden Gal and Warrior’s Reward
