Marketing Mix magnificent in G2 Dance Smartly Stakes

Fourth Graded Stakes win for Medaglia d'Oro filly

Medaglia d'Oro filly Marketing Mix was looking for her fourth Graded Stakes win July 8 in Woodbine's G2 Dance Smartly Stakes, and came away with what could be one of her most impressive scores to date.

Marketing Mix was sent off as the heavy favorite at 3-5, and proved her odds were warranted. Running at one and one-eighth miles on the turf, her specialty, the filly broke well and was taken back off the pace to settle on the outside in third. In tight heading for the stretch, Marketing Mix strategically slipped to the rail to find running room and coasted along to victory.

The four-year-old daughter of Medaglia d'Oro has posted quite the résumé to date. In 2011 the filly was a winner of three black-type events, including the G2 Mrs Revere Stakes and G3 Pucker Up Stakes. She also ran a very strong second in Keeneland's G1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes. This year, the filly most recently won the G2 Nassau Stakes at Woodbine, prior to her G2 Dance Smartly victory.

Marketing Mix is owned by Glen Hill Farm and was bred by Sean Fitzhenry. She is out of Instant Thought, by Kris S. Marketing Mix's granddam is Graded Stakes-placed Nimble Mind, a full-sister to G1 winner Contredance and Graded winners Skimble and Shotiche.

Medaglia d'Oro is the number one dirt sire in the world by dirt G1 horses from the 06-07-08 crops. He has proven himself as a sire on all surfaces though with progeny the likes of Marketing Mix. His G1 winners include Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra and Plum Pretty, both of which impressed with victories in the G1 Kentucky Oaks. Medaglia d'Oro stands for $100,000 at Darley USA.
