It's a piece of cake for Antoinette in the Tepin

Juvenile daughter of Hard Spun gets first Stakes win

Antoinette rallied up the rail and pulled away to win easily by a length in the mile-and-a-sixteenth Tepin Stakes at Aqueduct on December 5.

The off-the-turf event was the first Stakes victory for the two-year-old daughter of Hard Spun after breaking her maiden at Belmont Park on October 24.

Bred in Kentucky by Godolphin, Antoinette is the second foal out of four-time Graded Stakes winner Shuruq (Elusive Quality). A daughter of G2 winner Miss Lucifer, Shuruq is a half-sister to Stakes winner and G1-placed Space Blues (Dubawi).

Antoinette becomes the 77th Stakes winner for her sire Hard Spun, who is currently sitting at #6 on the General Sire List. His top performers in 2019 include Spun to Run, winner of the G1 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, Out For A Spin (G1 Central Bank Ashland Stakes), Gatting (G1 Makybe Diva Stakes), Lucullan (G2 Knickerbocker Stakes), Green Light Go (G2 Saratoga Special), A Thread Of Blue ($1,000,000 Saratoga Derby Invitational, G3 Palm Beach Stakes) and Hard Legacy (G3 Regret Stakes).
