Indulgent proves too tough in the G3 Go For Wand Stakes

Daughter of Bernardini turns back Highway Star to earn her first Graded Stakes victory

Indulgent stalked the frontrunning Lucy N Ethel through the early stages of the race before taking command in the stretch to win the G3 Go For Wand Stakes by a length over Highway Star at Aqueduct December 2.

The Go For Wand marked the first Graded Stakes victory for the four-year-old daughter of Bernardini, after several recent runner-up finishes.

Bred in Kentucky by Darley and racing as a homebred for Godolphin, Indulgent is a half-sister to Darley stallion Frosted, winner of the G1 Metropolitan Handicap, G1 Whitney Stakes, and G1 Wood Memorial. Indulgent is out of G2 Cotillion winner Fast Cookie, who a half-sister to Eclipse Champion and Darley stallion, Midshipman.

Bernardini is enjoying yet another successful season in 2017 with 11 black-type winners to date, including Graded Stakes winners Takaful (G1 Vosburgh), Imperative, Le Bernardin, and Watershed.

Bernardini will stand the 2018 season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $85,000.
