Homespun Hero sharp winner of Meadow Stable Stakes

First Stakes victory for son of Hard Spun

Homespun Hero put away rival Determined Vision in the final furlong to capture the Meadow Stable Stakes by a length at Laurel Park 4 Aug.

Breaking alertly under jockey Daniel Centeno, the son of Hard Spun battled with favored Determined Vision through the first half-mile of the race. As the field entered the home straight, Centeno asked his mount for more and Homespun Hero responded, shaking free of his rival in the shadow of the wire to post a one-length victory.

Bred in Virginia by Mrs. C. Oliver Iselin, Homespun Hero is out of the First Samurai mare, Nicky’s Way, a half-sister to Vision And Verse, winner of the G2 Illinois Derby and placed in both the G1 Belmont Stakes and G1 Travers. Nicky’s Way is also a half-sister to Distorted Legacy, winner of the Sky Beauty Stakes and placed in the G1 Flower Bowl Invitational.

Hard Spun is the sire of over 60 Stakes winners, including such standouts as Eclipse Champion Questing, G1 Arlington Million winner Hardest Core, and multiple G1 winner Hard Not To Like.
