Holding Court in the Cup

Lonhro gelding Court Connection wins the Canberra Cup, becoming the 37th Stakes winner for his sire

Winning his ninth career start, and first at Stakes level, Lonhro gelding Court Connection sat wide throughout, but still proved too good, taking out the Listed Canberra Cup on 10 March, becoming the 37th Stakes winner for his sire.

Having only even been tried at Stakes level on two occassions, finishing fourth last start in the Listed Parramatta Cup before taking out the Canberra Cup, the Danny Williams-trained galloper appears to be getting better with age and is also relishing the step up in distance.

Bred by Tareena Bloodstock, Mrs P Powles, Mr T R Lobb and Mrs F M Lobb, Court Connection is out of the Listed-winning Strategic mare Imperatix, a half-sister to the G1 winners Curata Storm and Volie D’Or.

As the sire of 37 international Stakes winners highlighted by G1 winners Mental, Beaded, Pierro and the Darley Australia stallions Benfica and Denman, Lonhro is standing the current season at $30,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
