Hard Spun one-two in Australia

Mihalic wins Listed Maribyrnong Stakes at Flemington

Hard Spun landed a one-two in Victoria’s first two-year-old race of the season when his daughter Mihalic defeated her paternal half-brother Iceflow by just under a length in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial over 5f at Flemington, October 4.

Mihalic settled just off the speed in the early stages before striding to the lead in the final furlong and holding off a determined challenge from Iceflow.

A homebred for the Alderson family, Mihalic is the fourth foal and first Stakes winner from Encosta de Lago mare Batik who hails from the family of Champion two-year-old and three-year-old Tontonan.

Hard Spun is the sire of 36 Stakes winners, among them G1 winners Questing, Wicked Strong, Hard Not To Like, Zo Impressive and Hardest Core.
