Hard Empire proves much the best in G3 R N Irwin Stakes

Hard Spun gelding earns his first Graded Stakes victory by two lengths

Hard Empire notched his first Graded Stakes win when he captured the G3 R N Irwin Stakes by two lengths at Morphettville 13 April.

The five-year-old gelding by Hard Spun continues to improve each year, with this season in line to possibly be his best yet. Of his five starts so far this season, Hard Empire has been in the money four times, including a second-place finish in the G3 David R. Coles AM Spring Stakes.

Bred in Australia by Mr. K.R. Landale, Hard Empire is out of Last Quill, by Last Tycoon. Hard Empire is closely related to Power Trip (by Hard Spun), winner of the G3 Maribyrnong Plate.

Hard Spun has sired over 65 career Stakes winners, including 10 Grade 1 winners. Hard Spun is having a tremendous spring, led by his three-year-old daughter, Out For A Spin, recent winner of the G1 Central Bank Ashland Stakes. The stallion is also the sire of A Thread Of Blue, winner of the G3 Palm Beach Stakes earlier this year.

Hard Spun is standing the 2019 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $40,000, stands and nurses.
