Quiet American colt lands fifth Stakes win; Perfect Bull wins Minnesota Derby for Holy Bull

Star Guitar won at Stakes level for the fifth time on Saturday, recording his second in a row with victory in the Louisiana Cup Turf Classic Stakes. He won the eight-and-a-half furlong contest by eight-and-a-quarter lengths.

Now four, the son of Quiet American races for Brittlyn Stable Inc, who have enjoyed many red-letter days with their homebred colt. In eleven starts, he has won eight and placed on another two occasions.

Notching his first black-type win the same day was Perfect Bull, by Holy Bull, who romped to a four-length success in the Listed Minnesota Derby. Owned and bred by Red Dog Stables, the three-year-old colt is out of the Dazzling Falls mare Perfect Moment and has now won five times.

Warrior’s Reward, a three-year-old son of Medaglia d'Oro, edged closer to his first Graded Stakes win when taking the runner-up slot in the G2 Jim Dandy Stakes after making much of the running. Third in his previous start in the Dwyer Stakes, the Jayeff ‘B’ Stables-bred colt is now under consideration for the G1 Travers Stakes on 29 August.

Heavenville was the first winner and then the first Stakes winner for his freshman sire Offlee Wild and he continued his successful juvenile season by taking second in the Listed Louisiana Cup Juvenile Stakes for the Heiligbrodt Stable.
