Growth Equity shines in G3 Peter Pan Stakes

Improving son of Nyquist impresses in Graded Stakes debut

Growth Equity made the leap from maiden to Graded Stakes winner with ease when rolling to a two-length victory in the G3 Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont at the Big A on Saturday, May 9.

With the victory the three-year-old colt by Nyquist improved his record to two wins and two seconds in four starts for earnings of $187,600.

A compact field of five went to the post in the Peter Pan, with Growth Equity sent off as the even money favorite. At the start it was Talk to Me Jimmy that went to the front and quickly opened up a two-length lead over Gulfy, with Azam right behind that one in third. Jockey Flavien Prat was content to let Growth Equity stalk from fourth, just three lengths off the leader while racing three-wide.

Growth Equity overtook Talk to Me Jimmy at the top of the stretch and began to lengthen his lead in the stretch, eventually winning by two lengths. Talk to Me Jimmy was a determined second, with Trendsetter closing belatedly to take third.

Bred in Kentucky by Stone Farm, Growth Equity is out of the Graded Stakes-placed mare, My Miss Venezuela (Wildcat Heir), who is a half sister to the multiple Stakes winner, Selva (Forest Wildcat).

Nyquist is off to a hot start once again and now has eight Stakes winners to his credit this year, including Graded Stakes winners Knightsbridge (G3 Mr. Prospector, G3 Fred W. Hooper), Iron Honor (G3 Gotham Stakes), and David of Athens (G3 Jebel Ali Mile). His three-year-old son Taj Mahal is already a two-time Stakes winner in 2026 and will race next in the G1 Preakness Stakes May 16.

Nyquist is standing the 2026 season at Jonabell Farm for $175,000, stands and nurses.
