Great Exuma runs great at Churchill

Colt is 10th winner from Bernardini's first crop

Breaking smartly out of the gate, Bernardini's two-year-old colt Great Exuma pressed the pace from the second spot of this one and one-sixteenth mile race until reaching the top of the stretch when he then sprinted away from the favorite to win by two and one-quarter lengths. This was his first start, and the 10th winner from Bernardini’s first crop.

Great Exuma was bred in Kentucky by Diane and Guy Snowden and races in the colors of Diane Snowden. He is out of the Elusive Quality mare, Elusive Diva, a multiple Graded stakes winner and G1-placed. Elusive Diva is a half-sister to Stakes winners R. Baggio and Handyman Bill as well as Stakes-placed No Lullaby and Diva’s Seastar.

Foals from Bernardini’s first crop also include G1 Frizette Stakes winner A Z Warrior, Italian G1 winner Biondetti, G2 winner To Honor and Serve, G3 winner and G1-placed Theyskens’ Theory and G1-placed Stay Thirsty. He is the only freshman sire ever to sire a G1 winner on both dirt and turf.
