Grace And Dignity all class in breaking maiden at Woodbine

Daughter of Animal Kingdom wins her career debut by five lengths

Grace And Dignity took the lead right from the start and never looked back as she cruised to an impressive five-length victory in a six-furlong maiden special weight contest at Woodbine Racecourse September 16.

It was the first start for the chestnut daughter of Animal Kingdom, and she provided her sire with his fourth northern hemisphere winner from his first crop.

Breaking alertly from the starting gate, Grace And Dignity went to the front a few strides out of the gate. She continued to show the way down the backstretch while opening a two-length lead on the rest of the field. Through the far turn and into the stretch, Grace And Dignity continued to widen her lead, eventually drawing off to win by five lengths.

Bred in Ontario by Anderson Farms Inc., Grace And Dignity is out of Precision Farming, by Smart Strike. Precision Farming is out of the Stakes-winning mare Health Farm, and hails from the family of Dream About (G2 Mazarine Breeders’ Cup Stakes), Deeply Undervalued (G2 Commonwealth Derby), and Multiple Graded Stakes-Placed Sleepless Knight.

Grace And Dignity is the fourth winner from the first northern hemisphere crop of Animal Kingdom. In addition to Grace And Dignity, Animal Kingdom is the sire of Sunny Skies, winner of the Debutante Stakes at Churchill Downs, Continental Divide, winner of the Graduation Stakes at Del Mar, and Untamed Domain, who recently broke his maiden on the turf at Saratoga.

Animal Kingdom also has six winners so far in his first southern hemisphere crop, including Animalia, who defeated older horses. His other SH winners include TDN Rising Star Earth Angel, Lord Cecil, Barbary, Royal Phoenix, and Platinum.
