Four fantastic moments for Medaglia d’Oro in five days

On the heels of a tremendous 2017 - one of the best years ever for any sire - Medaglia d'Oro is yet again showing his sire power in 2018. Five days, beginning July 14th, exemplify his continued influence:

  • Daughter Elate, one of his seven G1 winners of 2017, made her 2018 debut a winning one, taking the G2 Delaware Handicap on July 14th, a race also won by daughter Songbird last year. Elate is expected to make her next start in the G1 Personal Ensign.

  • Sons Violence and Warrior's Reward sired the winners of both the G3 Indiana Derby and G3 Indiana Oaks, also on the 14th.

  • Three-year-old son Gyllen staked a claim to be among the best of his generation in France when taking the G2 Prix Eugene Adam on July 15th.

  • Two-year-old daughter Brill broke her maiden on debut at Del Mar on July 18th garnering an 88 Beyer, the highest registered in her crop of either sex thus far in 2018. She was also given a BRIS Speed Rating of 99 which is the fastest debut start by a filly since Lady Aurelia in April of 2016. A next start in the G1 Del Mar Debutante Stakes is expected for Brill.

Medaglia d'Oro's seven 2017 G1 Stakes winners last year put him in rarified air as he joins Danzig, Mr. Prospector and Storm Cat as the only sires in history to have ever sired as many in a given year.

Elate wins the G1 Alabama at Saratoga in 2017

Also in 2018, he has been represented by three of the five million dollar two-year-old sales horses. He sired the $1.2 million co-sales topper at Fasig-Tipton's Gulfstream Sale (pictured below), the $1.1 million sales topper at OBS in April,  and a $1.2 million dollar sales topper at Fasig-Tipton in May.

Medaglia d'Oro will be represented by 12 yearlings at Fasig-Tipton's Saratoga Sale where demand is expected to again be high.
