Genre holds off the late charge of Penwith to win Lady Jacqueline Stakes

Daughters of Bernardini complete the exacta in rich $200,000 Stakes

Genre took command at the top of the stretch and easily held off the late bid of Penwith as daughters of Bernardini completed the exacta in the $200,000 Lady Jacqueline Stakes at JACK Thistledown Racino Aug. 27.

Genre provided Bernardini with his second Stakes winner of the afternoon on Saturday. Earlier in the day at Saratoga, his daughter, Cavorting defeated a quality field to win the G1 Personal Ensign Stakes.

Bred in Kentucky by William E. Graves and Gainesway Thoroughbreds Ltd., Genre is out of the Ecton Park mare French Park, winner of the G2 Golden Rod and G3 Pocahontas. French Park is also the dam of Stakes winner Parc Monceau (by Giant’s Causeway), and hails from the family of Palace, winner of the G1 Forego and G1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt.

Bernardini is the sire of nine Graded Stakes winners in 2016, including dual G1 winner Cavorting; Lewis Bay, winner of the G2 Gazelle Stakes; Penwith, winner of the G2 Royal Delta Stakes; Le Bernardin, winner of the G2 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1; Carrumba, winner of the G3 Top Flight Handicap; Innovative Idea, winner of the G3 Groupie Doll Stakes; and Shagaf, winner of the G3 Gotham Stakes.
