Genre determined winner of the G3 Molly Pitcher Stakes

Daughter of Bernardini earns her first Stakes victory by a hard-fought neck

Cheyenne Stables LLC’s Genre took the lead on the far turn, then battled the length of the stretch with Stakes winner Eskenformoney to earn a neck victory in the G3 Molly Pitcher Stakes at Monmouth Park.

The four-year-old daughter of Bernardini was headed at one point in the stretch, but fought back gamely, displaying plenty of determination to earn her first Graded Stakes win. The victory improved Genre’s record to four wins and four seconds in 10 starts.

Bred in Kentucky by William E. Graves and Gainesway Thoroughbreds Ltd., Genre is out of the Ecton Park mare French Park, winner of the G2 Golden Rod and G3 Pocahontas. French Park is also the dam of Stakes winner Parc Monceau (by Giant’s Causeway), and hails from the family of Palace, winner of the G1 Forego and G1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt.

Genre provided Bernardini with his 50th Stakes winner. Bernardini has sired eight Graded Stakes winners so far in 2016, including Cavorting, impressive winner of the G1 Ogden Phipps Stakes; Lewis Bay, winner of the G2 Gazelle Stakes; Penwith, winner of the G2 Royal Delta Stakes; Le Bernardin, winner of the G2 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1; Carrumba, winner of the G3 Top Flight Handicap; and Shagaf, winner of the G3 Gotham Stakes.
