Fourth Group victory for Whobegotyou

Son of Street Cry lands the Dato Tan Chim Nam Stakes to cement his position as favourite for the CoxPlate

Street Cry’s outstanding son Whobegotyou confirmed his position as a leading contender for the G1 Cox Plate and maintained his 100 per cent record at Moonee Valley in Australia, recording an impressive victory in the G2 Dato Tan Chim Nam Stakes on September 12.

Settled off the pace under Damien Oliver, Whobegotyou flew around the final turn and burst clear with 200 metres left to run to win by a length from Mic Mac. G1 Singapore Derby winner Jolie’s Shinju finished a further two-and-three-quarter lengths back in third.

Whobegotyou, who established himself as a top-class performer when landing last season’s G1 Caulfield Guineas has now won six times and been placed on a further seven occasions in 16 starts. Bred by Lockyer Thoroughbreds, he is from the Stakes-placed Carnegie mare Temple Of Peace.
