Easter Gift makes it three-in-a-row

Son of Hard Spun wins Mountainview Handicap at Penn National

Four-year-old Easter Gift, by Hard Spun, keeps his win streak intact as he makes it three-in-a-row and three wins from four starts this year.  As a three year-old the colt was a Graded stakes winner, taking the G3 Smarty Jones Stakes and running second in the G3 Pegasus Stakes.

In this mile-and-one-eighth contest, he positioned himself well early, raced two wide on the far turn and drew off to win by two-and-one-quarter lengths. Racing in the colors of Robert Penta, Easter Gift has displayed great consistency, having hit the board in nine of his eleven starts.

Easter Gift was bred by Ward Williford in Kentucky and is out of the multiple Stakes winner and multiple G2-placed Angel Gift. He also has a Stakes-placed half-brother in Wings Of An Angel. Angel Gift is out of a full sister to the multiple Champion Strawberry Road.

Hard Spun is currently the North American leader on the Third Crop Sire List with other 2013 runners that includce G3 winner Hard Not To Like.  His 24 Northern Hemisphere Stakes horses from his first crop make him the most successful first crop sire ever at this point in his career.

Hard Spun stands for $60,000 stands and nurses at Darley America.
