Dry Summer heats up at Del Mar

Son of Any Given Saturday impresses in Oak Tree Juvenile Turf

Although Any Given Saturday's two-year-old son Dry Summer broke from the outside post in the one-mile Oak Tree Juvenile Turf Stakes, the precocious juvenile didn't seem affected and was able to relax mid-pack in the races early going. As the field entered the turn for home, Dry Summer was able to find his best stride and passed the leaders late in the stretch for a powerful, decisive victory pulling away at the wire.

Dry Summer was bred by Richard Shultz in Kentucky and is out of the Stakes-winning Street Cry mare Greenstreet. Greenstreet is a half-sister to Seattlespectacular and their dam was produced from a half-sister to Champion Vanlandingham.

Any Given Saturday is also the sire of the undefeated stakes winner Princess Arabella, impressive winner of the 2012 Sunland Park Oaks and daughter Sunday's Child was a winner of the Sarah Lane's Oates Stakes at Fair Grounds in the Spring. Any Given Saturday, who defeteated Horse of the Year Curlin in the G1 Haskell, is arguably Distorted Humor's best -ever son.
