Decked Out flies home late to win the G1 American Oaks

Daughter of Street Boss closes out 2016 in style with a determined nose victory

Decked Out earned her first G1 victory in impressive style as she rallied from well off the pace to win the American Oaks by a nose at Santa Anita December 31.

It was the second Graded Stakes win for the three-year-old daughter of Street Boss; earlier this year she captured the G3 Providencia Stakes over the same turf course as the Oaks.

Settled near the rear of the field through the early stages of the race, Decked Out was swung wide on the far turn, then closed with a furious rally down the center of the course to just catch Sassy Little Lila at the wire.

Bred in Kentucky by Haymarket Farm LLC, Decked Out is out of Once Around, a Stakes-winning daughter of You And I. Decked Out is a half-sister to Morrow Cove, winner of the Listed Serena’s Song Stakes. She hails from the female family of G3 Tampa Bay Derby winner, Odysseus.

Decked Out is one of 26 Stakes winners and five G1 winners for her sire, Street Boss. The twelve-year-old stallion is the sire of fellow 2016 G1 winner, Cathryn Sophia, who was impressive when winning the Kentucky Oaks by three lengths. In addition, Street Boss is the sire of G1 winners Capo Bastone, Danza, and The Quarterback.

Street Boss will stand the 2017 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $17,500, stands and nurses.
