Darley sires hot in Florida

Bernardini sires second-highest price lot at the OBS sale

The final stats for the OBS March Sale of Selected Two-Year-Olds in Training saw excellent results by progeny of Darley stallions with champion and first-year sire Street Sense leading all sires by average, and Bernardini and Medaglia d'Oro siring the second and third highest-priced lots at $500,000 and $450,000, respectively.

G1 winner Hard Spun, whose first foals also race this year, was represented by a $350,000 offering that was purchased by Stonestreet Stables from the consignment of Scanlon Training Center, agent. A daughter of Street Cry, from the consignment of Jerry Bailey Sales Agency, agent, also brought a final bid of $350,000 and was taken home by Hardacre Farm.

Two other members from this year’s freshman sire crop, Any Given Saturday and Discreet Cat, also were represented by six-figure lots, bringing $180,000 and $165,000 respectively. And last, but not least, two-year-olds by one of this year’s leading third-crop sires, Rockport Harbor, continued to attract nice prices in the second session of the sale, including a $150,000 final bid for a colt from the consignment of Greg and Karen Dodd acting as agent.
