Connections of Hard Spun’s Spinning Colors tickled pink with wire-to-wire win at The Spa

Becomes the 110th career Stakes winner for her sire!

The old adage, "horses for courses" rang true yesterday as Hard Spun's daughter Spinning Colors notched her third career win from four starts on Saratoga's turf course in the Mount Vernon Stakes. The gate-to-wire victory in the added-money event represents the 110th Stakes win for her top-tier sire.

Jockey Johnny Velazquez sent the five-year-old mare to the front and she never looked back in the one-and-one sixteenth mile affair and was two-and-one-half lengths clear at the wire. She also appears to be getting better with age as she also scored a career-best 85 Beyer Speed Rating

Bred by William Parsons Jr. & David Howe in New York, Spinning Colors is out of the Elusive Quality mare Kaleidoscope, she a half to Essex Handicap winner Moonhak Chief.

In addition to Spinning Colors, Hard Spun's most recent top performers include Graded Stakes winners Sparkle Blue (G3 Hillsborough Stakes), Elysian Field (G3 Maple Leaf Stakes) and Highway Robber (G3 Sycamore Stakes, setting a new Stakes and course record at Keeneland).

Hard Spun stands the 2025 breeding season at a fee of $25,000.
