Classic Fit rallies late to take the Hut Hut Stakes at Gulfstream Park

Juvenile daughter of Bernardini now has won three of four starts

Classic Fit charged from last to first and earned her first Stakes win when she captured the $75,000 Hut Hut Stakes at Gulfstream Park Dec. 8.

The promising two-year-old filly by Bernardini now boasts a three-race winning streak. The Godolphin color-bearer now has won three of four career starts.

Overlooked by the bettors at 13-1, Classic Fit raced at the rear of the field through the early stages of the eight-furlong contest. The dark bay filly began her rally on the far turn, moving up to third while racing wide. Classic Fit continued her drive in the stretch, eventually reeling in Bella Ciao and Sweet Diane in the shadow of the wire to post the neck victory.

Classic Fit was bred in Kentucky and races as a homebred for Godolphin. She is out of True Style, an unraced daughter of Forestry. True Style is a half-sister to both Florida Derby (G1) winner and top sire Scat Daddy and Antipathy, winner of the G3 Shuvee.

Classic Fit becomes the 65th Stakes winner for her sire, Bernardini, who is represented by 2018 Graded Stakes winners Berned (G3 Molly Pitcher) and Lewis Bay (G3 Bed o’Roses).

Bernardini will stand the 2019 breeding season at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for $50,000, stands and nurses.
