C. S. Silk smooth in G1 Just A Game Handicap

Medaglia d'Oro filly is sire's seventh G1 winner

It was a smooth victory for C. S. Silk, by Medaglia d'Oro, in the G1 Just A Game Handicap June 11 on the Belmont Stakes undercard. Already a G3 winner of the Arlington-Washington Lassie at two, C. S. Silk notched her first victory at the highest level with the win at one mile on the turf. Eagerly setting the pace, C. S. Silk went wire-to-wire for the effortless victory with Javier Castellano in the saddle.

Bred in Kentucky by Hermitage Farm LLC, the five-year-old mare is out of Stakes winner Remember The Day, by Settlement Day. She is a half-sister to G3 winner Remember Sheikh and Stakes winner Memory Tap.

A perrenial leading sire, Medaglia d'Oro secured his second G1 Kentucky Oaks winner in 2011 when Plum Pretty followed in the footsteps of Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra. The sire has also been represented this year by G2 winner Vision in Gold and G3 winner Super Espresso. He is now the sire of four other G1 winners, including Gabby's Golden Gal and Warrior's Reward. The fee for Medaglia d'Oro is $100,000 Stands and Nurses.
