Brilliant Zenyatta still unbeaten after G1 Lady’s Secret romp

Street Cry mare extends her outstanding record with her seventh top-flight victory

'Condescending ease' was how the race caller described the manner of Zenyatta's latest victory and it's hard to disagree after watching Street Cry's extraordinary daughter return to Santa Anita in imperious fashion to record back-to-back wins in the G1 Lady’s Secret Handicap.

Making her first start at the track since her Breeders' Cup victory last October, Zenyatta's win was the second Group/Grade One victory for her sire within 24 hours after the Australian-bred Whobegotyou landed the Yalumba Stakes at Caulfield. This year she has also won the G1 Clement L Hirsch Handicap, the G1 Vanity Handicap and the G2 Milady Handicap.

Now five, Zenyatta started her winning streak at Hollywood Park on 22 November 2007 and has retained a spotless record ever since with a string of 13 victories, matching the record of another great disatffer, Personal Ensign.

Bred in Kentucky by Maverick Productions, she is owned by Jerry and Ann Moss and will now head to either the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic or Ladies' Distaff on 7 November.
