Botanical runs them off their feet at Turfway

Medaglia d'Oro filly earns 20 points toward Kentucky Oaks

Botanical pulled away in the stretch to win the one-mile Cincinnati Trophy Stakes at Turfway Park on Saturday, March 4th for trainer Brad Cox and owners LNJ Foxwoods and Clearsky Farms.

It was the third straight win over the same course and distance for the talented three-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, who broke her maiden by almost eleven lengths at Turfway in November before winning an allowance by four-and-a-half in her most recent start on January 12th.

Botanical broke alertly under jockey Chris Landeros and settled in third down the backside before making her move around the turn. She took control at the top pf the stretch and pulled away to win by six-and-a-half lengths as much the best, earning 20 points toward the Kentucky Oaks and a career high 91 Beyer Speed Figure for the effort.

A $220,000 Keeneland September Sales graduate, Botanical was bred in Kentucky by Clearsky Farms and Godolphin. She is the first foal out of the Graded Stakes-winning Blame mare Daisy, winner of the G3 Tempted Stakes at Aqueduct and runner-up in the Suncoast Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs.

Botanical was Medaglia d’Oro's second Stakes winner of the day on Saturday after his son Endorsed captured the G2 Gulfstream Park Mile for his third straight victory.

Medaglia d’Oro is standing the 2023 breeding season at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for $100,000, stands and nurses.
