Boilermaker becomes 11th winner for Girolamo

Two-year-old gelding goes gate to wire in MSW at Finger Lakes

Two-year-old Girolamo gelding Boilermaker went gate to wire in breaking his maiden at Finger Lakes on October 6th to become the 11th winner for his freshman sire.

Bet down to 1-4 favoritism, Boilermaker went straight to the lead in the five-furlong maiden special weight and maintained a one-length advantage down the backside.  He began to pull away around the turn and cruised home through the stretch to win easily by eight lengths in a final time of 59 3/5.

Bred in New York by Steve Taglienti and Bruce Grossman, Boilermaker is out of the winning Holy Bull mare Lazer Eye.  He is trained by Chris Englehart for owners Four Tags Stable and Bruce Grossman.

Winner of the G1 Vosburgh and G2 Jerome Handicap, Girolamo is by A.P. Indy out of the G3-winning Mr. Prospector mare Get Lucky.  He is a full brother to the dams of G1 winners Super Saver, Bluegrass Cat, and Imagining, and is a half-brother to the dam of 2015 G1 Juddmonte Spinster heroine Got Lucky.  He has eleven first-crop winners so far, including TDN Rising Star She’s All Ready, winner of the Seeking the Ante Stakes at Saratoga and third in the G1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont.  Girolamo is also the sire of stakes-placed Belmont maiden winner Lucky Lurie, Saratoga debut winners Pagan and Backwood Bay, and recent Belmont maiden winner Libreta.
