Bernardini's Le Bernardin soars in G3 Pegasus Stakes

Darley-sired exacta at Monmouth

It was a Darley-sired exacta in the G3 Pegasus Stakes at Monmouth Park June 17. Bernardini's Le Bernardin soared to victory, with Hard Spun's Easter Gift a strong second.

The one and one-sixteenth mile race began with Le Bernardin stalking the pace in second. Putting on the pressure, the three-year-old colt began to make his move in the stretch and came on strong for the win. Easter Gift came from well back to finish a very good second.

Le Bernardin broke his maiden in March at Aqueduct and followed that up with an Allowance score over the same track. The colt is out of G2 Demoiselle winner La Rosa, by Wild Again. She has also produced G3 winner Taittinger Rose. A strong family, Le Bernardin's second dam is G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Twilight Ridge.

Bernardini is the sire of an incredible eight G1 horses from his first crop. They include G1 winners To Honor And Serve and Stay Thirsty. In May the sire was represented by his newest Graded winner when Via Villaggio easily took the G3 Railbird at Hollywood. A son of the great AP Indy, Bernardini stands for $150,000 stands and nurses at Darley USA.
