Bernardini begins the new year with a bang

Ruud Not Too claims G2 Rich Hill Mile in New Zealand

Bernardini began 2017 in the best way possible with his four-year-old daughter Ruud Not Too winning the G2 Rich Hill Mile at Ellerslie in New Zealand, January 1.

Beautifully ridden by Danielle Johnson, Ruud Not Too settled behind the leaders in the early stages. Shortly after straightening for home Ruud Not Too burst through along the rails and dashed clear to win comfortably.

Bred by Cambridge Stud, Ruud Not Too is out of the unraced O’Reilly mare Too Many Diamonds, a daughter of G3 winner Diamond Cashel.

Bernardini sired ten Graded Stakes winners in 2016, including dual G1 winner Cavorting, multiple Graded Stakes winner Lewis Bay, G2 Royal Delta Stakes winner Penwith, and G2 Nashua Stakes winner Hemsworth.

Bernardini will stand the 2017 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $100,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
