Bar of Gold shines in the Yaddo

Daughter of Medaglia d'Oro captures her third career Stakes

Before the 38th running of Saratoga’s Yaddo Stakes on August 25th, Medaglia d’Oro’s daughter Bar Of Gold had only raced three times on the turf, including her last two, finishing second and third at Belmont and Saratoga, respectively. Well, after her win in this one and one-sixteenth mile event in her second start over Saratoga’s turf course, it appears she might have found a new preferred surface.

Bar Of Gold broke well out of the gate and found herself either second or third as the field moved past the six-furlong mark. Approaching the far turn, the five-year-old appeared to falter but she then unleashed an impressive turn of foot to win in hand for her owners and breeders Chester and Mary Broman.

Born in New York, Bar Of Gold is out of the Lemon Drop Kid mare Khancord Kid, winner of the G3 Herecomesthebride Stakes. Bar Of Gold’s second dam is Confidently, a full-sister to Stakes winner Yankee Gentleman.

Medaglia d'Oro is having yet another stellar year in 2017 with no fewer than four individual G1 winners, tops among all North American sires. His daughter Elate won the Alabama Stakes on August 19th joining Eclipse Champion Songbird, New Money Honey and Dickinson as his high-level winners this year.  And his yearlings continue to be in high demand - his 2017 yearling average of $756,000 is the highest of all North American sires and behind only Deep Impact and Dubawi worldwide.
