Astern filly gives her sire a new Stakes winner

Danger Strykes impressive in Wanganui Listed victory

Another sign that Astern">Astern is well on the way to success as the stallion was provided with the dominant win of his 2YO filly Danger Strykes  in the Listed Castletown Stakes at Wanganui, NZ, on Saturday, 5 June.

Danger Strykes joins Seradess on Astern’s list of Stakes winners and becomes the eighth winner overall from her sire’s first crop.

Her defeat of Ima Roca Bee and Bellaconte followed hot on the heels of the victory of another of Astern’s juveniles, Zadig who scored his second win in Australia a day earlier.

Astern retired to stud in 2017 after a racing career in which he became the highest-rated son of Medaglia d’Oro, the best of his five wins coming in the G1 Golden Rose.

Astern is also a member of one of Godolphin’s best Australian female families being a son of Essaouira (Exceed And Excel), who is also the dam of triple G1 winner Alizee.

The family also includes five-time G1 winner Triscay and and the Stakes winners La Baraka and Alizes.

Astern stands at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for a fee of $7,500 stands and nurses and will return to Darley Australia's Kelvinside for the coming southern hemisphere breeding season.
