Any Given Saturday's Carving takes Real Quiet Stakes

Second Stakes win for juvenile

Bob Baffert-trained Carving appropiately earned his second Stakes victory November 10 winning the Real Quiet Stakes at Hollywood.

Sent off at even-money, the two-year-old Any Given Saturday colt settled just off the pace in second. Turning for home Carving began to take the lead and battled in the stretch to win the one and one-sixteenth mile race well.

Bred by WinStar Farm, LLC, Carving is out of the mare In Seconds, by Giant's Causeway. The mare is a half-sister to multiple Graded winner/multiple G1-placed Lear Spear as well as the dam of the Graded-placed Moriarity.

Any Given Saturday's first crop of runners was represented by the talented filly Princess Arabella, an impressive winner of the Sunland Park Oaks. His second crop is headlined by three juvenile Stakes winners, among them Dry Summer and Winter Book, in addition to Carving. A $1.1 million yearling by Distorted Humor, Any Given Saturday is a winner of the G1 Haskell Invitational, G2 Dwyer Stakes, and G2 Brooklyn Handicap.
