Another Medaglia d’Oro colt hits seven figures

Has a total of three million-dollar yearlings at Keeneland September

Day four of Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale saw a million-dollar hat trick for Medaglia d'Oro as he was represented by his third seven-figure yearling of the sale, bringing to eight his career total for one million dollars or better. He has also sired a total of 29 at $500,000 or above. He is now North American’s leading active sire by yearling average in 2013.

David Ingordo signed the ticket for the handsome, $1 million yearling on September 12th, a colt out of the multiple G1 winner Dream Supreme who has produced a total of three Stakes winners thus far, including the G1 winner Majestic Warrior. The third highest-priced colt on the day, he was consigned by Lane’s End Farm, acting as agent for Kinsman Farm.

North American Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas was the winning buyer for another outstanding colt by Medaglia d’Oro, hip number 720, out of the Listed winner and multiple G1-placed Bonnie Blue Flag. The bid board showed $700,000 when the hammer fell. Taylor Made Sales Agency, acting as agent for Aaron and Marie Jones, was the consignor.

His four yearlings sold on day four averaged just shy of $600,000 and also included a $450,000 filly consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent. Out of the multiple Stakes-winning/multiple G2-placed Distorted Humor mare, Distorted Passion, Walnut Green was the buyer at $450,000.

Street Cry also flexed his sale muscles in the form of hip number 700, an exceptional yearling which brought a final bid of $750,000 from Live Oak Plantation. Out of the Stakes winner and multiple G1-placed mare, Beautician, the chestnut colt was consigned by Runnymede.

Another Street Cry yearling, hip number 841, also went past the half million-dollar mark, with John Ferguson signing the ticket for the bay filly out of G1 winner Dream Empress. Valkyre Stud, acting as agent for Dreamkeepers, LLC, was the consignor.

Jeremy Noseda also got on the Street Cry train going to $400,000 for hip number 729 consigned by Gainesway Farm. The gray or roan colt is out of the multiple Graded-placed Cable, a half-sister to G2 winner and successful sire Exchange Rate.

G1 winner Hard Spun, whose first-crop daughter Questing won the Eclipse Award last year as North America’s top three-year-old filly, made his presence known through hip number 733, a filly which was hammered down for $290,000 from the consignment of Dapple Stud. A full sister to the Hard Spun Stakes winner, Now Spun, the filly was purchased by C Punch Ranch, Inc.
